BICYCLE CITY

Found in Southern Ontario, the City of Cambridge lies at the confluence of the Speed and Grand Rivers. In 2006, the population of the city is 120,371. The largest employer of the city is Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, which opened their plant in 1988. Cambridge is home to various cultural activities and events like the Mill Race Festival and the Rock the Mill music festivals. In 2011, the Laureate Medal was awarded to the city for its contribution of innovative technology which changes lives.

HOW IT BEGAN

Cambridge was officially founded in the 1970s with the merger of Galt City and the towns of Hespeler, Preston and Blair. You should know the city is different from Cambridge Township, which is also located in Ontario.

╣the Grasshopper Clock. Opened to the public in 2008, it is a fabulously terrifying clock found in Corpus’ Taylor Library. The clock’s dial is made of 24-carat gold. It’s facing King’s Paradise and is a must-see for all visitors.

╣Cambridge University Press Bookshop. This bookshop is the oldest book store in the country and has tours available for book lovers. Some of the books sold here were from the 1580s.
