Hidden Valley Ski Area (Alberta)
This is located near Medicine Hat, located in the Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park in South Eastern Alberta. You should know that there is a ski resort with the same name in St. Louis, Missouri, so it is important that you specify the location. Situated on the Laurel Highlands region, the Hidden Valley Ski Area is a well-known winter destination for skiers and snowboarders. The resort offers two interconnected skiable areas known as the Valley Slopes and the North Summit. Both areas feature different terrains for all skill levels. Skiing season in the resort is from December to April.
The Hidden Valley ski area officially started in the 1980s. However, it began life as the Mile High Ski Hill, a trail which has already been established since the 1960s. Today the Hidden Valley ski area continues to be a family-based operation and is gaining popularity because of its friendly and helpful staff. With help from the provincial government, the ski area continues to expand in terms of skiing terrain and up-to-date skiing facilities.
It has 45 hectares (111.2 acres) of skiable terrain. The highest accessible point in the resort is 200 meters or 656 feet up. Snowfall averages at 305 centimeters or 120 inches. There are a total 30 runs with more than a quarter of the terrain suitable for beginners and 47 percent appropriate for intermediates. All trails of the resort are exceptionally groomed for a wonderful skiing or snowboarding activity. While most of their trails are open for day use, some are lit for evening skiing. The ski patrol is always there to assist everyone and to make sure all skiers are safe.
Many guests in the resort are experienced skiers. A rental shop is onsite for those who have no equipments. Aside from snowboarding, skating, and skiing, Hidden Valley is a perfect place for outback snow tubing. The Outback Snowtubing Park is located here, which offers ten chutes and serviced by a brand-new uphill conveyor. Wintersports U is the resort’s snow school. The school offers both ski and snowboard lessons for first-timers, kids, and women. If you are a novice to the sport, a newly developed beginner trail is the first track to try under the supervision of the school’s instructors. Those who want to fine-tune their skills can also enroll to one of their private or group lessons.
