Mont Sainte Anne

It is a world-famous ski resort located in the Beaupré city in Quebec province. It is a medium-sized ski mountain but is considered to be one of the best skiing terrain in the eastern part of Canada. It is also a favorite among snowboarders and the resort is proud to say that all of its terrain is open to both skiers and snowboarders. However, more and more people consider Mont Sainte Anne as more of a family-friendly resort and the place has become a favorite among cross-country skiers. The resort is open all year and is the venue of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in the summer. Ski season in the resort is from November to April.

Skiing has been a popular sport in and around Beaupré city since the 1940s. The area hosted the national skiing championships in 1943, cementing its reputation for the quality of skiing terrain and the challenges it offers. This was well before the opening of the resort in 1966. The highly influential corporate group, the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, is currently managing the resort, which now has new trails meant for glade skiing and improvements in its snow making system.

The resort has a total 182 hectares or 450 acres of skiable terrain. The highest accessible point in the resort is 2,050 feet or 625 meters. Annual snowfall in the area averages at 475 centimeters or 187 inches. The resort has 65 ski runs, 17 of which are used for nighttime skiing. The resort has a wide variety of slopes, ranging from easy to extremely difficult. Aside from skiing, the resort also has facilities for snowshoeing, paragliding, dog sledding, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and skating. It also provides other services, like sleigh rides and spa.

The resort is a favorite among skiers, especially those with advanced skills. All of its runs are open and the skiing terrain is wonderful and diverse in the challenges they offer. The resort's night skiing facilities are second to none, which is not a surprise since the resort has the highest terrain in the country meant for night skiing. Guests also love the snowboarding park with its world-class facilities. The resort also has a Nordic skiing center full of the most modern equipment and a center for cross-country skiing with a wide variety of services.

Most of the resort's guests are married and are traveling with their families, as well as single people or those who have just been married. Many of the guests seem to be more interested in the fact that the resort is about 30 minutes away from Quebec City and the many interesting sites there. The resort has few amenities designed for travelers who are interested in socializing at night, so guests may want to go to nearby cities which abound with cafes, clubs, theaters and cabarets. You should know, however, that the resort has a daycare, a rental shop, restaurants, and a small ski school.

Keep Mont Sainte Anne in mind when you are planning a skiing vacation with your family. The resort is a wise choice for people who are planning to do some serious skiing during their vacation. Mont Sainte Anne is one of the few resorts that can be a favorite to almost everybody.
