An Alpine skier named Josl Huter, together with his wife and two sons, founded Mount St. Louis Moonstone Ski Resort. In 1963, they bought a hill covered with large trees, investigated and studied the property, and made it into a spectacular ski resort. It first opened to the public in December l964.

There are a total 40 runs, 35 percent of which are for beginners and 50 percent for intermediates. The remaining percentage is used by advanced and expert skiers. It has two terrain parks – the Outback and the Junk Yard. The Outback terrain is intended for advanced riders while the Junk Yard terrain is designed for beginners.

Most of the resort's guests are novice skiers and those with intermediate skills, although only a few of them come from outside Canada. One of the best features offered by Mount St. Louis Moonstone Ski Resort is their Bag Jump. Located in their Outback Terrain, this giant 49ft x 49ft bag allows skiers of any level to try tricks they have been dreaming of. The huge bag catches skiers and ensures no serious injuries will happen anytime. Private and semi-private courses and programs are also offered here. They have lessons for kids up to 17 years old, an 8-week program for beginners and intermediate, and a day care for children aged 3-5. The Junk Yard is the best spot for early season sliding. The express chair lifts of the resort are ideally made so skiers will not have to wait too long when in the lift line. Equipment rentals are available.
