Ski at Mt. Seymour

This is a ski resort located in Mt. Seymour National Park, North Vancouver. Among the North Shore Mountains in Canada, Mt. Seymour’s base elevation of 1,020 meters is recorded as the highest. Only 30 minutes away from Vancouver downtown, the resort’s terrain is varied for advanced, beginner, and intermediate winter sport enthusiasts. The place is perfect for snowboarding and skiing, and kids of all ages are absolutely welcome. Skiing season in the resort is from November to April.

Mt. Seymour ski resort is owned by Harold Enquist, and opened to the public in 1937. It had a cafeteria and a rental shop at first. In 1949, the British Columbia government bought the property but appointed Mr. Enquist to run the resort since they have no experience to that matter. In 1951, the government appointed a new concessionaire to run the lifts, cafeteria, and ski school. It was in 1984 when the overall ownership of the resort was retained by the government.

The resort has 81 hectares or 200 acres of skiable terrain. The highest accessible point in the resort is 330 meters (1,082.7 feet) up. Annual snowfall averages at 445 centimeters or 175 inches, considered the deepest in the North Shore Mountain region. There are a total 21 runs with most of the terrain suitable for beginner skiers and those with intermediate skills. The resort features machine-groomed trails and fast lifts for a perfect, hassle-free skiing and snowboarding. The trails, pipes, and Terrain Park are always in exceptional condition and offer many challenges to skiers. A total of 10 km maintained and marked trails are found in the Discovery Trail makes a perfect spot for snowshoeing while snow tubing is best done at the Enquist Snow Tube Park. A ski patrol is on standby and is always attentive to emergency situations. Aside from the trails and lifts, the resort also offers other facilities including a rental shop, repair shop, restaurant, washrooms, parking area, and snow school.

Most of the guests in the resort are experienced skiers who find the most of the mountain's skiing terrain very challenging. However, the mountain is also a favorite of families with young people who are just learning to ski. The establishment’s Ski and Snowboard School introduces new snowboarders and skiers to the mountain slopes through their programs. They offer lessons for any age and ability level in a multi-day or single-day course. Some of the programs they offer are the Bear Cubs, City Lights, and Mountain Riders. Their instructors are all well-trained professionals who are willing to assist students anytime. Rental services are offered for snowboarders and skiers.

The group will surely find something to eat after their long tiring day. Snacks, refreshments, and other foods are available in their restaurant. Fun activities held in the resort are the Baby & Me, Chocolate Fondue Tour, and SnowFit. At the end of the day, a classy hotel, charming B&B, and much more accommodations are available for the group.
